Embedding Links into Smart Formats

You can embed links into your documents with Smart Formats! Read more about creating and converting documents to Smart Formats here.

To get started, make sure admin mode is enabled.

  1. Open a Smart Formats document
  2. Highlight the text where you want to embed the link
  3. Click the Link icon above the document
  4. You can embed links to different types of content using the URL field. You can:
    • Link to a website, either content inside your knowledge base or an external site. Type or copy and paste the link into the URL field and click on the link in the drop-down menu.
    • Link to another part of the document. Type in that section's name from the integrated table of contents to the URL field. Click on it from the drop-down menu. For example, if you have a section titled "Policy" that you wanted to link to in a section on protocols, type "Policy" into the URL field and select it.
    • Link to a copy of a document, video, pdf or image on your computer. Click the Upload icon next to the URL field and attach it.
    • Link to the top or bottom of the document. To link to the top, type <top> and click on it from the drop-down menu. To link to the bottom, type <bottom> and click on it from the drop-down menu.
  5. (Optional) Add a Title
  6. (Optional) Choose whether to Open link in... the current window (default) or a new window
